Volcano
Pebbles had a Smithsonian Giant Volcano Kit that was begging to be finally made.
She loved making it, was fairly easy to do! Once the plaster was dry she had just as much fun painting it to look as realistic as possible. Then… it sat in the cupboard for ages for the day when we felt like making the lava erupt. Since we were studying Iceland for geography it was the perfect opportunity to learn more about volcanoes vs geysers, read books on it, watched videos. Found a few recipes for the lava part. In the end, felt that the design of the ‘spout’ inside that volcano was just too slim to allow for enough reaction and bursting momentum. Was still fun though!
LAVA RECIPE 1: Baking Soda & Vinegar
LAVA RECIPE 2: Yeast & Peroxide
LAVA RECIPE 3: Ketchup & Baking Soda (our favorite)
