pattern block fun

Posted on Jul 5, 2013 by in LEARN | 1 comment

Stumbled across our bucket of pattern blocks and thought it would be fun for BamBam to make some designs with the red-white-blue shapes!

He preferred to sit and make his own designs – pumpkins, rockets, boats and his sister took a much greater interest in seeing how many different designs she could make with the same red-white-blue shapes on a round plate. This required more fine motor skills than I think a pre-K’er would have at least on a plate with curved edges. 😉

BamBam enjoyed passing certain shapes and colors to Pebbles as she puzzled with the game.  Suddenly I overheard him counting the sides of the shapes in his hand – and he proclaimed ‘this is a trapezoid’ …  thank you Umizoomi !!

  1. I like making flowers out of the yellow hexagon and the white skinny diamonds.
