Can we get some ketchup and a Bible to go with our fries please?

After eating In-N-Out COUNTLESS times I noticed something tiny and monumental while taking a juicy mouth watering bite of my cheeseburger.

In tiny point 6/7 font on the bottom of the white paper burger wrapper was some familiar words:

Revelation 3:20

Huh ?!  I felt like Indiana Jones uncovering a secret message under a stone !

On a mission, the kids and I started over turning all of our In-N-Out packaging….. every wrapper or container except for the napkins, main paper bag, and drink holder each had their own Bible verse in TINY letters underneath.

Milkshakes: Proverbs 3:5

Double-Double Cheeseburger: Nahum 1:7

Fries: Proverbs 24:16

Drinks: John 3:16

Well, you can imagine that directly after finishing our lunch we broke out our Bible app at the table and read the books and verses – the kids were beaming with excitement like they just discovered something super cool.

Afterwards of course a 1 second Google search brought many articles about this and have been on their packaging since the 1980’s.  The founder of the In-N-Out Rich Snyder had apparently said that “he didn’t want to have to face Jesus in the afterlife and need to explain why he didn’t promote the gospel.”

Certainly you can imagine the presence of these verses is hotly debated.  Either way, it’s a free country, it’s their business – they can choose to do what they want as long as they aren’t hurting anyone or breaking any laws.  If you own a business, you wouldn’t want people telling you what you can or can’t do beyond the scope of law. While Chick-fi-A is widely known for being criticized for their stance on issues – sure seems to be that both fast food chains are still mighty prosperous irregardless.

I won’t tell you what the verses said….  that would ruin the reveal for you – which I think, was the Rich Snyder’s whole point. 😉  I’m sure thousands of people eat there multiple times in their life and never notice.
